No tricycle. No training wheels. Ever.
”With the Strider™ running bike, there are no "tricycle tip-overs" or "training-wheel wobbles" to create a fear, hesitancy, or dislike of bike riding. The Strider™ running bike helps kids learn balance and coordination BEFORE pedaling, which develops glittering confidence. So ditch the tricycle and training wheels, and teach your child to ride a bike sooner and safer with a Strider™.

Designed for children, ages 1 - 5, the Strider™ running bike is lightweight, easy to control and features an adjustable seat and handlebars to accommodate a growing child. Most importantly, the Strider teaches your child balance, coordination and develops glittering confidence.

And the Strider is steady, stable and safe. At the first feeling of instability, your child will instinctively place his feet securely on the ground. So there are no "tricycle tip-overs" or "training-wheel wobbles" that stir-up a fear, hesitancy, or dislike of bike riding.”-Strider Website

If your child can walk... your child can ride a Strider™.

Strider_Youngster“Even tiny little children, before the age of two, are drawn to the Strider™. At first, kids will grab the handle bars, straddle the bike and walk without ever sitting down on the seat. And they’re completely stable: Two wheels, front and back. Feet firmly on the ground. Hands bracing the handle bars.

The next step: Kids quickly learn to sit down, push with their feet and zip right along as they balance on two wheels. (Watch children ride and play with their Strider™.)

Plastic push toys, scooters, tricycles and training wheels can’t do this.

And unlike other bikes that sit in the garage, gathering dust while your child waits to grow into them, the Strider™ running bike will get plenty of use from day one. In fact, we guarantee that your child will love the Strider™”.-Strider Website

Strider generously sent me a Strider running bike for Little Bug. I have to admit I was a little skeptical that my almost 2 year old would be able to use this bike. But I was really excited to see if he would be able to ride it, so when it arrived I put it together right away. (Assembly was very easy, you just have to put on the front wheel and the handle bars). Bug watched anxiously wanting to play with this new toy. Then as I stood it up, he grabbed the handle bars and threw his leg over and began walking with the bike. I had seriously under estimated him! We then took it outside and I watched as he had a blast with his new “Big boy bike”! He mostly walks along with the bike, but we have had it for a few weeks now and he is starting to sit on the seat a little more. It will be no time before he is sitting on the seat and scooting along with his legs. The other thing about this bike that impressed me was how light weight it is. It weighs less than 7 pounds, yeah bug can pick it up! That makes it so easy for him to maneuver the bike. Also the handle bars and seat adjust, so right now we have it on the lowest setting with is perfect for him. And we will be able to raise it as he grows. I am really excited that he is learning balance and coordination. It is awesome that he will be riding a peddle bike without ever using training wheels. I will definitely keep you all posted on his Strider bike progress. I give this bike an A+! It is so great! Skip the tricycles and training wheels, we are!
